Department of Public Health Organized a Grand Lecture on Planning Research for Thesis

Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health delivering a lecture on ‘Planning Research for Thesis” held on Friday, 04 October 2019 in Room # 422 of Daffodil Tower

The Department of Public Health has organized a Grand Lecture on ‘Planning Research for Thesis” for the Master of Public Health (MPH) students of 21th Batch (Weekend Program) on Friday, 04 October 2019 in 52 Auditorium (Room # 422) of Daffodil Tower. Prof. Dr. Harun-Ar-Rashid, Professor and Head of the Department of Public Health delivered the lecture on ‘Planning Research for Thesis”. Total 50 MPH students participated in the program.  The program has been organized by the Department to improve quality of Thesis, which is one of the important requirements for the MPH degree. The Grand Lecture started with discussion on the importance of research leading to Thesis and various nuances of writing, editing and defending   Thesis. Prof. Rashid covered following issues: selection of topic, writing research proposal, submission of research proposal, research proposal defense, registration of topic for Thesis,  implementation of research study, data collection & analysis, writing Thesis, Thesis defense, plan of action of activities under Thesis, submission of Thesis, Thesis Guide, plagiarism screening and writing scientific article using Thesis materials.  

Prof. Rashid has talked about ethical issues involved in health research with human participation and advised the students to apply for approval by the Research Ethics Committee (REC) of the Faculty of Allied Health Sciences of the University. Proforma for research proposal development, Application Form for ethical approval and checklist for Research Ethics Committee (REC)) were distributed among the MPH students.  Professor Rashid presented a Plan of Action to facilitate successful completion of Thesis in due time.
